Movie Narrative: Narc (2002)


The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration.  For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie Narratives, continues showing its love for movies with another movie narrative.  This week, Narc (2002), will be converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted.  It is implied that the blog reader reads the movie narrative, and then, he or she watches the movie.  The effort is to give the blog reader, an enhanced experience.  RB28’s Movie Narratives, ends this movie narrative of Narc (2002), with some Hollywood facts. 
            Narc (2002) is rated R.  Furthermore, it is 1 hour and 45 minutes long.  This movie is categorized under the crime, drama and mystery genre.  The official release date is January 10th, 2003.  The release date is for the Country of the United States of America.  The director was Joe Carnahan.  The writer was Joe Carnahan.  The officially recognized stars of Narc (2002); were Ray Liotta, Jason Patric and Chi McBride.  The list of the 13 most important cast members is as follows:

            The synopsis follows.  Narc (2002) is the collection of vivid images, of the life of a narcotics police detective; out of the City of Detroit.  In Detroit, Michigan U.S.A., there is a dramatic chase of a crime suspect.  The chase, continues and the suspect runs through, a large apartment building complex.  Regrettably, the crime suspect kills someone, during the chase.  The police officer momentarily stops to help the person.  However, he quickly continues chasing after the suspect.  The suspect stops, and, holds a child.  Out of nowhere, the police officer shoots the suspect dead.  However, the bullets hit a pregnant woman; a tragedy.  The woman also appears to be, the mother of the child.  Officially, the chase has ended, in a very dramatic way.  18 months later, the police officer is under some type of, administrative investigation.  The pregnant woman, is the objective of the questions.  Apparently and at that time, the police officer, was an undercover narcotics detective.  During the administrative investigation; it is revealed that, the narcotics detective was discharged from active duty.  However, the police detective receives a second chance, with a new murder investigation or case.  Detective Tellis and Detective Oak are put together, in order, to investigate the murder of an undercover narcotics officer named, Calvess.  Tellis is the police detective that chased the suspect through the apartment complex, and, he is coming off 18 months of inactive duty.  Oak is the cold-hearted detective that, lost compassion a long time ago.  Together, they arrive at the answers to their questions.  Director, Joe Carnahan, does a very good job.  His cinematography skills are brilliantly used.  There are a couple of moments, where the action and scene, captivates the mind.  The writer, Joe Carnahan, does an equally very good job.  The personalities of the police detectives, are good strong personalities.  Additionally, Detective Oak is an exceptionally well written character.  The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously.  They would be missed, if they were not chosen.  Special recognition is merited to Ray Liotta and Jason Patric.  Overall, Narc (2002) earns the rating of 7 out of 10. 
            The movie narrative of, Narc (2002), is as follows.  This movie starts with a dramatic chase of a crime suspect.  The chase, runs through a large apartment building complex.  Regrettably, the crime suspect kills someone, during the chase.  The police officer momentarily stops to help the person, however and then quickly, he continues chasing the suspect.  The suspect stops, and, holds a child.  Out of nowhere, the police officer shoots the suspect dead.  However, the bullets hit a pregnant woman; a tragedy.  The woman also appears to be, the mother of the child.  Officially, the chase has ended, in a very dramatic way.  The scene changes, a police officer is under some type of, administrative investigation.  This is 18 months later, or, after the chase and shooting.  The pregnant woman, is the objective of the questions.  Apparently and at that time, the police officer, was an undercover narcotics detective.  During the administrative investigation; it is revealed that, the narcotics detective was discharged from active duty.  This occurred, almost immediately after the incident.  Surprisingly, the narcotics detective is offered re-instatement; if he helps with a murder investigation of a man named, John Calvess.  The narcotics detective feels insulted, and, he walks out of the room.  A police captain chases after him.  Surprisingly, they talk outside and in the hallway.  The police captain tells him that, Calvess was a police officer.  Additionally, he does want him to help.  The narcotics officer doesn’t give him an answer.  However, he starts to read the file, of the murder.  He also starts to look, at Calvess’s personal belongings.  The police captain and the narcotics detective, have a meeting and they talk, about the Calvess case.  They also talk about, Detective Oak.  Detective Oak, apparently, has been prohibited from continuing with the investigation, alone.  The narcotics detective, as it results, needs to be part of the investigation.  Coincidentally, he will continue to be discharged from active duty, and, on three quarters pay status; if he chooses to not be part of the investigation or case.  The narcotics detective, agrees to be on the case.  He also meets up with Detective Oak, at a restaurant to talk.  The narcotics detective is named, Tellis.  Oak and Tellis hit the streets hard, to be able, to find information.  Oak and Tellis go talk to a man, who is being arrested.  The suspect, is held back from arrest, until, he talks to the detectives.  The suspect says that, he knows Calvess.  Furthermore, that he saw him fighting a man named, Leo Lee.  Oak and Tellis, go to see Leo Lee.  However and regrettably, they find him dead and in the bath tub.  They also find a shotgun that, is a police shotgun.  Outside of the investigation, Tellis starts to have problems, with his wife.  Tellis’s wife doesn’t want him, to be a police officer.  In regards to the case; the shotgun was police issued, and, the fingerprints that are on the shotgun belong to a man named, Steeds.  Tellis and Oak start looking for Steeds.  While waiting in the car, Oak tells Tellis a story.  The story is about a 10 year old girl, who was being prostituted by her step father.  Furthermore, that he beat the step father half to death.  Tellis decides to talk to Calvess’s wife, alone.  The police detective, shows up by himself, in order, to visit with Calvess’s wife.  Additionally, he is affectionate with her, and, her children coincidentally know the police detective.  Outside the house, Tellis and Oak have a shouting fight, with each other.  Tellis and Oak go to see a man named, Eugene.  Eugene is aggressive, and, he shoots Tellis.  However, Oak quickly kills Eugene.  Unexpectedly, Eugene had in his possession a fake police badge.  Fortunately, Tellis lives, and, he is taken to the hospital.  Tellis and Oak; go to a meeting with the police captain, and, the Commissioner of Police.  They are told that, the case is closed.  The case is closed, but, Tellis continues to look at and request files.  Oak asks and receives, a warrant to search.  Both of them go to a mechanic shop, to be able, to look around.  Out of nowhere, Oak finds a man in the bathroom, and, he shoots him with a shotgun.  Tellis is shot at by another suspect, and, he chases after him.  Both of the suspects are hit with the bullets, but they are not dying.  Tellis and Oak, sit the men down, in order, to interrogate them.  Additionally, they search around the shop.  Unexpectedly, they find Calvess’s gun, in the trunk of a car.  They also find dozens of other guns.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
            The movie narrative of the feature film, Narc (2002), ends with some Hollywood facts.  The countries of origin are the United States of America and Canada.  The original languages are English and Spanish.  There are other notable release dates.  The other notable release dates are:  U.S.A., January 14, 2002 (Sundance Film Festival); France, April 13, 2002 (Cognac Film Festival); Spain, October 9, 2002 (Sitges Film Festival); U.S.A., December 17, 2002 (Premiere); U.S.A., December 20, 2002 (Limited Release) and UK, February 7, 2003.  There are three filming locations, in total, for this particular movie.  The filming locations are in the United States of America and Canada.  Specifically, these locations are:  Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.; Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Regent Bank, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  The original budget for this movie is estimated at, $7 million 500 thousand USD.  On its opening weekend, this movie made $63,303 dollars.  This movie is considered closed in theaters, on March 14, 2003.  The gross profits, that are reported, are $10,460,089 USD.  The production companies are Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate Films, Cruise/Wagner Productions, Splendid Pictures, Emmett/Furla Films, Tiara Blu Films, Applecreek Productions, Cutting Edge Entertainment, JR Media Services and Narc, LLC.  There are several distributors for this particular movie.  Some of the distributors include the following; Lions Gate Films (U.S.A.), Paramount Pictures (U.S.A.), United International Pictures (UK) and Paramount Home Video (U.S.A.).
