Movie Narrative: One Hour Photo (2002)


The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration.  For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie Narratives, continues showing its love for movies with another movie narrative.  This week, One Hour Photo (2002), will be converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted.  It is implied that the blog reader reads the movie narrative, and then, he or she watches the movie.  The effort is to give the blog reader, an enhanced experience.  RB28’s Movie Narratives, ends this movie narrative of One Hour Photo (2002), with some Hollywood facts.

            The synopsis follows.  One Hour Photo (2002) is a thriller movie, out of the suburbs.  In the suburbs of the United States of America, Nina gets ready.  She is going out, in order, to have her rolls of film developed.  Nina and Jakob travel to Sav-Mart.  Additionally, at the Sav-Mart, Parrish works developing rolls of film.  Parrish is also called, Sy.  Nina talks to Yoshi, at the photo counter.  She is dropping off her rolls of film.  Parrish moves Yoshi to the side, and, he takes over.  Parrish takes a picture of himself, and, he finishes a roll of film.  He also writes down 3 sets of photos; two for Nina, and, 1 for himself.  Parrish promises to have the photos ready, before the end of the business day.  Parrish starts working, on Nina’s rolls of film.  Nina and Jakob return, to the photo counter.  Parrish attempts to talk to Nina, and, he processes the payment.  Nervously, he gives Jakob a free disposable camera.  Nina and Jakob leave the store, Sav-Mart.  Parrish leaves for the day.  At a restaurant, Parrish looks at his set of photos.  The photos, of the Yorkin family.  Parrish says that, Jakob is his nephew.  Parrish drives, and, he returns to his apartment.  At his apartment, Parrish passes time watching cartoons.  Unexpectedly, it is revealed that Parrish has a wall decorated with photos, of the Yorkin family.  The photos start, when Will and Nina were newlyweds.  The photos continue, and, the years pass through the photos.  The photos end with the most recent photo.  One day, Seymour Parrish meets Will Yorkin at the Sav-Mart.  Parrish is star struck, and, his obsession grows.  Parrish breaks the boundaries, and, he starts to follow Nina and Jakob around.  Additionally, his sits in his car, in front of, the Yorkin house.  While he sits, Parrish dreams and hallucinates about being a member of the Yorkin family.  Eventually, Seymour Parrish discovers a love affair, which Will Yorkin is having.  Will Yorkin becomes the center of Parrish’s hatred.  At the same time, Parrish’s employment at the Sav-Mart is terminated.  After this incident, Seymour Parrish has all day, to focus on Will Yorkin.  Director, Mark Romanek, does a good job.  The Yorkin house is beautiful and modern.  Furthermore, it goes with everything that is happening, in the movie.  The suburban lives, of the members of the Yorkin Family, are cleverly well developed.  Unfortunately, some things fall short.  Additionally, the Seymour Parrish character requires more punching power.  The writer, Mark Romanek, does an equally good job.  The basic elements of the story, are well developed.  The conflict in the marriage, of Will Yorkin and Nina Yorkin, is also well developed and easily understood.  Additionally, this part helps finish the story of the Yorkin family.  Unfortunately, several things fall short.  There is something major that, is still missing, in the Seymour Parrish character.  The officially recognized stars, do a good job performing their roles.  Overall, One Hour Photo (2002) earns the rating of 5 out of 10. 
            The movie narrative of, One Hour Photo (2002), is as follows.  At the local county jail, Seymour Parrish has his picture taken.  Additionally, he is being processed as an inmate.  Parrish sits in an interrogation room.  A police detective enters the room.  The detective tells Parrish that, they have developed the rolls of film.  The same rolls of film that, were in his possession, when he was arrested.  Additionally, everything is considered to be evidence.  The detective explains Parrish’s legal rights.  Parrish says that, he understands.  The detective wants to know, why, Will Yorkin makes him feel so angry.  Parrish waits before he answers.  The scene changes, and, Parrish narrates.  At the same time, Nina Yorkin takes pictures.  Parrish talks about the moment, which photos capture.  Will Yorkin and Nina Yorkin celebrate, Jakob Yorkin’s birthday.  At the house, Will Yorkin and Nina Yorkin pass time.  Obviously, they are married.  Nina gets ready, in order, to leave and have her rolls of film developed.  Nina hurries up Jakob, so that, they can leave the house.  Nina and Jakob travel to Sav-Mart.  Inside Sav-Mart, Parrish works developing rolls of film.  Parrish is also called, Sy.  Nina and Jakob enter the store.  Nina talks to Yoshi, at the photo counter.  She is dropping off her rolls of film.  Parrish moves Yoshi to the side, and, he takes over.  Parrish takes a picture of himself, and, he finishes a roll of film.  He also writes down, 3 sets of photos.  Two for Nina, and, 1 for himself.  Parrish promises to have the photos ready, before the end of the business day.  Nina leaves, in order, to finish shopping.  Parrish starts working on Nina’s rolls of film.  He also continues to narrate.  Parrish believes that, he does an important job.  The rolls of film are developed into photos.  Nina and Jakob return to the photo counter.  Parrish attempts to talk to Nina, and, he processes the payment.  Nervously, he gives Jakob a free disposable camera.  Nina and Jakob leave the store, Sav-Mart.  Parrish leaves for the day.  Additionally, it is night and the store is closed.  In the parking lot, Parrish discovers a cracked windshield.  At their home, Nina and Will pass time with Jakob; as a family.  They look at the photos.  Unexpectedly, Nina tears up a photo, of herself.  Will Yorkin finds the photo of Parrish.  Jakob Yorkin calls Parrish, “Sy the Photo Guy.”  At a restaurant, Parrish looks at his set of photos; the photos of the Yorkin family.  Parrish says that, Jakob is his nephew.  Parrish drives, and, he returns to his apartment.  At their house, Nina and Jakob talk about things.  Jakob says that, he feels bad for Parrish.  He thinks Parrish feels sad, and, that he doesn’t have friends.  Nina says that, Parrish has his own life.  Probably, Parrish has a lot of friends and a girlfriend.  At the same time, Parrish returns to an empty apartment.  Nina suggests sending Parrish good thoughts.  Nina and Jakob send Parrish good thoughts.  Nina puts Jakob to sleep.  At the same time, it is revealed that, Parrish keeps his photos of the Yorkin family.  In the kitchen, Will and Nina argue about their finances.  Nina tells Will that, he emotionally neglects his family.  Unexpectedly, Jakob listens to his parents arguing, with each other.  Nina leaves the kitchen, and, she starts to cry.  At his apartment, Parrish passes time watching cartoons.  Unexpectedly, it is revealed that Parrish has a wall decorated with photos, of the Yorkin family.  The photos start, when Will and Nina were newlyweds.  Furthermore, the photos that were taken during Nina’s pregnancy, are also there.  The photos continue, and, the years pass through the photos.  The photos end with the most recent photo.  Sav-Mart opens for the business day.  Parrish prepares for the work day.  He also continues to narrate.  He talks about Monday, being the busiest day of the week.  Parrish describes the customers, which he sees, on Monday.  Parrish also has his regular customers memorized.  Larry, the repairman, inspects the photo machines.  Larry thinks that, the machines are working fine.  For some unknown reason, Parrish begins to argue with Larry.  The argument intensifies, and, the store manager watches.  During lunch, Parrish dreams of being a member of the Yorkin family.  Unexpectedly, the store manager interrupts Parrish.  The store manager wants to know, why, Parrish was fighting the repairman.  Parrish says that, he wants to maintain quality for his customers.  The store manager tells Parrish that, he is not important at Sav-Mart.  Parrish apologizes to Bill, the store manager.  Bill suggests a vacation.  Parrish says that, he will think about it.  Parrish walks down the store aisles.  Unexpectedly, he meets Will Yorkin.  Parrish is star struck.  Will is attempting to buy computer parts.  Parrish calls a store clerk, to help Will.  He also continues to be star struck.  Parrish expresses adoration to Will Yorkin.  Will Yorkin thanks Parrish for his help.  The store clerk arrives, and, Parrish leaves.  Surprisingly, Parrish sees Jakob.  They talk about toys.  Jakob leaves with his father.  At a restaurant, Parrish reads a book, which Nina is also reading.  Parrish continues to narrate.  He also passes time, at a swap meet.  At the swap meet, Parrish looks at photographs.  He decides to buy a photograph, of a woman.  Parrish continues to narrate, and, he waits in his car; outside the Yorkin house.  Unexpectedly, Parrish enters the Yorkin house, and, he passes time inside.  Parrish begins to drink beer, and, he watches a football game.  The Yorkin family returns, and, they find Parrish sitting in the living room.  Surprisingly, they greet Parrish, as a member of the family.  Jakob calls Parrish, “Uncle Sy.”  It results that, everything was a hallucination.  Parrish sits in his car and waits.  He leaves, and, it is the next work day.  Parrish talks to a woman named Maya.  The scene changes.  Jakob attends soccer practice.  Unexpectedly, Parrish is there watching.  He also cheers for Jakob.  Parrish talks to Jakob after practice.  He attempts to be supportive of Jakob.  They start to walk and talk.  Parrish shares personal stories.  Jakob says that, his father is always busy.  Surprisingly, Parrish gives Jakob a toy; as a gift.  Unfortunately, Jakob cannot accept the gift, and, he leaves.  At the shopping mall, Nina passes time shopping.  Unexpectedly, Parrish is a couple of steps behind.  Nina stops for a lunch break, and, Parrish approaches.  Grudgingly, Nina talks to Parrish.  They talk about where they live.  They also talk about Jakob.  Nina prepares to leave.  Surprisingly, she notices that Parrish is reading the same book, which she is reading.  They start to talk about the book.  Nina asks Parrish if, he has children or a girlfriend.  Parrish says, no.  He also says that, he has a photo of his mother.  Additionally, his mother died, some time ago.  Nina looks at the photo, and, she feels sorry for Parrish.  Nina picks up her things and leaves.  Parrish is working, at Sav-Mart.  Unexpectedly, Bill calls Parrish, because, he wants to see him in his office.  In Bill’s office, Bill talks to Parrish.  Bill tells Parrish that, he gives away photos and cameras.  Parrish says that, it is him.  Bill also wants answers.  Parrish doesn’t have answers.  Bill tells Parrish that, he is terminating his employment.  Parrish is heart broken.  They continue to argue.  Furthermore, Bill wants Parrish to finish the week.  Parrish is angry and sad.  Unexpectedly, Nina arrives at the photo counter.  Parrish is disconnected, but, he processes the print order.  He starts to work developing the roll of film; in an angry manner.  Parrish sits on the floor, and, he looks at the Yorkin family photos.  At night, Parrish returns to his apartment.  He adds the most recent photos, to his wall of photos.  Unexpectedly, he notices a woman, in one of the photos.  Parrish returns to Sav-Mart, and, he looks at Maya Burson’s photos.  He discovers, through the photos, Will Yorkin’s love affair with Maya Burson.  Parrish feels emotionally distraught, about the discovery.  He also decides to put the photos, inside Nina Yorkin’s photo envelope.  Parrish says good bye to Yoshi; for forever.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Nina Yorkin discovers the photos of Will and Maya.  Parrish takes photographs of Bill’s daughter, and, Bill is shown the photos.  The police consider Parrish, to be an imminent threat.  The police start to search for, Seymour Parrish.  At the same time, Parrish finds and violently attacks, Will and Maya.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
