Movie Narrative: September (1987)

            The synopsis follows.  September (1987) is a drama movie, out of the United States of America.  In the Country of the United States of America, and at Lane’s house, Lane enters feeling extremely frustrated.  The frustration is about her mother.  Lane and Stephanie have a mutual friend, Peter.  Apparently, Lane’s mother has asked Peter, to be the writer of her biography.  Stephanie reminds Lane that, she is leaving in a couple of days.  Lane continues to express her frustrations, about her mother.  Peter is in the middle of writing a novel.  Lane expresses her frustrations, about Peter.  Unexpectedly, Lane’s mother enters the house.  She enters with Peter and her boyfriend/husband.  Lane’s mother wants to improvise a small party.  Lane says that, she has plans with Peter.  Lane and Peter, agree to cancel their plans.  Lane’s mother continues telling a story.  The story is about how; she met her current boyfriend or husband.  Peter listens attentively.  Lane’s mother is named Diane.  Diane’s boyfriend or husband, is named Lloyd.  Peter is also renting the guest house.  A short time later, Peter and Lane talk.  Apparently, Diane left Lane’s father for another man.  The other man was an abusive and violent, gangster.  Peter says that, Diane is a survivor.  She also embodies the theme, of his novel.  Lane feels that, her mother left the nightmares for her.  Unexpectedly, Lloyd interrupts the conversation.  Lloyd asks for ice, and, he tells Lane that she is wrong.  Lloyd feels that, Diane has suffered.  Lloyd leaves and Lane says, sarcastic things.  Out of nowhere, Lane expresses her disgust about Peter’s novel, sounding like her life.  Apparently, Lane killed Diane’s second husband.  During the small party, Peter sits down to talk to Stephanie.  He also continues to express romantic interest.  Stephanie doesn’t know what to say.  Stephanie reveals to Peter that, Lane is in love with him.  Peter feels that he led Lane on, without thinking.  Peter confesses that he was lonely, due, to his recent divorce.  Peter says, I know it’s my fault.  Stephanie wants to know about her place, in the order of things.  Stephanie confesses that, she is married with children.  Furthermore, she is returning to her life; in a few days.  Peter continues to be persistent about a romantic relationship.  Stephanie wants Peter to stop.  Stephanie talks about her emotions, which she feels about, her husband.  She also talks about her frustrations, about her life.  Stephanie leaves, and, she tells Peter that a romantic relationship is not possible.  Ultimately, the conflict between Lane and her mother, becomes, the focal point of the conflicts during the weekend stay.  At first, Lane reveals that her father, is Diane’s first husband.  Diane left her first husband, for a gangster.  The gangster was an abusive and violent, second husband.  Lane confesses that she shot and killed, Diane’s second husband.  However and at the end, the truth is revealed.  Diane shot her second husband, and, Lane was given the blame.  Lane hates her mother, because, she wants to live a different life.  A life, that doesn’t have taking the blame for a murder, which she didn’t commit.  Director, Woody Allen, doesn’t do a good job.  Mr. Allen successfully puts a hook on the viewer.  Unfortunately, everything falls apart after that.  To be kind, the movie in its entirety, occurs at Lane’s house.  Regrettably, there is nothing after that.  Furthermore, the cinematography lacks charm.  The writer, Woody Allen, does a good job.  The story is coherently written with engaging dialogue.  The love triangle of Peter, Lane and Stephanie is cleverly presented.  Additionally, throwing Howard into the mix, adds a good amount of conflict to the story.  The character, Diane, in subtle ways creates more conflict for Lane.  This conflict becomes a large part, of the overall entertainment.  The officially recognized stars do a good job performing their roles.  Overall, September (1987) earns the rating of 4 out of 10. 
            The movie narrative of, September (1987), is as follows.  At Lane’s house, Stephanie and a man talk.  Additionally, they talk to each other, in the French Language.  Lane’s house has a lot of charm.  The conversation switches to English.  The man says that, he has to be going.  Stephanie insists that, he should stay.  There is nothing for the man, to do at his house.  Unexpectedly, Lane enters feeling extremely frustrated.  The frustration is about her mother.  Lane and Stephanie have a mutual friend, Peter.  Apparently, Lane’s mother has asked Peter, to be the writer of her Diane also says that, she hasn’t seen Lane since her attempted suicide.  She also feels that Lane, lost love.  The other man is named Howard.  Howard and Stephanie pass time playing billiards.  Lane enters the room, to talk to Stephanie.  Lane reveals that, there are two offers to buy the house.  She also shares her wish, to leave to New York City.  Howard doesn’t recommend selling the house.  He also offers a money loan.  However, Lane rejects the offer.  Howard is concerned about moving to New York City.  Lane thinks that, she will work as a writer and photographer.  She also confesses that, she doesn’t know what she wants.  Lane also thinks about having a baby.  Unexpectedly, Peter interrupts Lane.  Peter asks Lane for the chapters.  Lane says that, she is almost finished.  Peter wants to re-write the novel.  Lane attempts to lift up Peter’s spirit.  Peter expresses his frustrations.  He also says that, Diane’s life is very interesting.  Lane disagrees with Peter.  Lane expresses disapproval towards her mother.  Apparently, Diane left Lane’s father for another man.  The other man was an abusive and violent, gangster.  Peter says that, Diane is a survivor.  She also embodies expresses that the book is about everything; not just survival.  Peter leaves, and, Howard disapproves of Peter.  Stephanie becomes upset at Howard.  She wants Howard to say, nice things about Peter.  Howard confesses that, he’s jealous that Lane likes Peter.  He also expresses his feelings, about Lane.  Stephanie agrees with the things, which Howard says.  Howard also talks about, Lane falling in love with Peter.  Apparently, things changed when Peter arrived.  Howard hasn’t loved a woman, since his wife died.  Unexpectedly, the telephone rings.  Lane tells Stephanie that, her husband is calling for her.  Stephanie feels upset.  In a bedroom, Diane and Lloyd talk.  Diane shares with Lloyd that, Lane is angry at her.  Furthermore, her anger has changed her.  Surprisingly, Lloyd kisses Diane.  Diane expresses her love, for Lloyd.  Diane and Lloyd are happy and in love.  Unexpectedly, Lane enters the room.  Lane lends her mother jewelry.  Diane hands it back, because, she changed her mind.  She also reminds Lane, to have fun this night.  Lane expresses that, she doesn’t feel like hosting a small party.  Diane wants Lane to leave the past, behind.  They start to talk about Peter.  Diane wants to know if, he is good enough to write her biography.  Lane doesn’t want Diane to distract Peter.  Diane says that, Peter distracts her all the time.  They argue about the possible biography.  Lane continues to argue, because, she doesn’t want to be written about.  Diane tells Lane, to not blame her for her life.  Lane continues to argue with her mother.  Diane reprimands Lane, because, she didn’t use her beauty and brain.  Lane confesses that, she doesn’t feel attractive.  Diane reveals that, Peter is romantically interested in her.  She also, asks Lane if, she is interested.  Lane says, I don’t know.  Diane doesn’t want Lane to show desperation.  Diane also reprimands Lane, about her last failed relationship.  Lane replies that, Diane doesn’t know what really happened.  Diane says that, she saw them together.  She also accuses Lane of being defensive.  Reluctantly, Lane agrees with her mother.  Diane looks in the mirror, and says that, she is 21 inside.  She also thinks about the past years and the future.  Diane asks Lane, to find herself.  Outside the house, Peter and Stephanie begin to talk.  Peter likes, how Stephanie is dressed.  Out of nowhere, they become awkward with each other.  Stephanie begins to talk to Peter, about his novel.  She asks about the character, the history professor.  Peter reveals that, it is a character based on his father.  He shares that his father, had his employment terminated.  Ultimately, his father gambled, to be able, to pay the bills.  Stephanie feels that, Peter’s father was a wonderful man.  She also understands, the theme of the novel.  Peter confesses to Stephanie, his inability to finish the novel.  Additionally, the novel was his first major writing effort.  Stephanie feels that Peter, is a wonderful writer.  They begin to talk about, missed opportunities to be alone together.  Stephanie shares a story about, her travels to Paris.  Diane and Lloyd join Stephanie and Peter.  Lloyd starts to make the alcoholic drinks.  Diane reminds Peter about writing her biography.  Peter doesn’t think, he’s good enough to write a biography.  Stephanie puts on music, and, Lloyd and Diane dance.  Peter and Stephanie talk awkwardly, to each other.  Peter says one thing, whilst, Stephanie says another.  Peter expresses his wish, to re-live the summer.  Stephanie thinks Peter is a sweet man.  Diane interrupts the conversation, by asking questions.  Peter confesses his emotions to Stephanie, about her.  Stephanie wants Peter, to stop talking.  Unexpectedly, guests arrive at lane’s house.  Howard returns to Lane’s house.  Diane is excited, because, she found an old Ouija Board.  Surprisingly, Diane tells Peter to dance with Lane.  She confesses to Peter that, Lane likes him.  Diane takes Peter directly to Lane.  She also instructs them to dance.  Diane continues talking, and, Peter and Lane don’t dance.  The telephone rings, and, Diane makes an announcement.  The guests will not be arriving, due to the weather.  Unexpectedly, the electricity goes out.  The group lights candles, and, Stephanie plays the piano.  Diane plays the Ouija Board, by herself.  She also talks to herself.  Howard and Lane pass time together.  Howard asks Lane to not move, and, continue to live here.  Howard tells Lane that, he is going to miss her.  Lane says that, she will also miss him.  Howard attempts to confess his romantic feelings.  Lane doesn’t want to hear it.  Howard continues to express romantic interest.  Lane confesses to be in love, with Peter.  Unfortunately, she doesn’t have an explanation, for Howard.  Howard expresses his desire, to touch Lane.  Lane offers Howard, a cup of coffee.  Lloyd and Peter play billiards.  Lloyd talks about his work, before he retired.  Lloyd is philosophical about his views of the world.  Peter asks to change the topic of conversation.  Lloyd talks about his love for Diane.  Howard passes time alone.  Diane continues to play the Ouija Board, by herself.  She also continues to talk to herself.  Peter sits down to talk to Stephanie.  He also continues to express romantic interest.  Stephanie doesn’t know, what to say.  Stephanie reveals to Peter that, Lane is in love with him.  Peter feels that he led Lane on, without thinking.  Stephanie reveals more information.  Peter confesses that he was lonely, due, to his recent divorce.  Peter says, I know it’s my fault.  Stephanie wants to know about her place, in the order of things.  Stephanie confesses that, she is married with children.  Furthermore, she is returning to her life.  Peter continues to be persistent about a romantic relationship.  Stephanie wants Peter to stop.  Stephanie talks about her emotions, which she feels about, her husband.  She this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Lane reveals to Stephanie that, she killed her mother’s second husband.  Finally, Lane and Diane have the real argument.  They fight about the murder of, Diane’s second husband.  Lane reveals the real truth.  Diane killed the second husband.  Lane took the blame for it.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
