Movie Narrative: Dust (2001)



The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration.  For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie Narratives, continues showing our love for movies with another movie narrative.  This week, Dust (2001), will be converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted.  It is implied that the blog reader reads the movie narrative, and then, he or she should watch the movie.  The effort is to give the blog reader, an enhanced experience.  RB28’s Movie Narratives, ends this movie narrative of Dust (2001), with some Hollywood facts. 
Dust (2001) is rated R.  Furthermore, it is 2 hours and 7 minutes long.  This movie is categorized under the drama, romance and western genre.  The official release date is April 5th, 2002.  The release date is for the Country of Italy.  The director was Milcho Manchevski.  The writer was Milcho Manchevski.  The officially recognized stars were Joseph Fiennes, David Wenham and Adrian Lester.  The list of the 15 most important cast members is as follows:

The synopsis follows.  Dust (2001) is a cowboy story from Eastern Europe.  In New York City a common thief is inside an apartment; tearing it apart.  Edge is the name of the thief.  Unfortunately, Edge cannot find something to steal.  Out of the darkness, an old woman reaches out for Edge.  Edge brutally beats her, and, attempts to leave the apartment.  Angela is the old woman, and, she turns the tables on Edge.  Angela uses her gun and keeps Edge in the apartment.  Angela sits down Edge, and, she begins to tell Edge a story.  The story appears to have a purpose.  Edge attempts to beat Angela one more time.  However, Angela is quick to respond, and, she breaks Edge’s nose.  Edge is forced to listen to the story with a broken nose.  Furthermore, to keep Edge’s attention, Angela, gives Edge a gold coin; which was part of the necklace.  She also tells Edge that, there are more gold coins, if he buries her where she was born.  Angela continues telling the story, and, the story shifts to two brothers in the Old West Era of the U.S.A.  The two brothers are Luke and Elijah.  Luke was a killer, and, Elijah was different compared to his brother.  The two brothers visit a brothel.  Luke and Elijah fight over a prostitute.  Elijah wins and gets the prostitute named Lilith.  Furthermore, Elijah falls in love with Lilith, and, they get married.  Luke becomes a very bitter man.  Ultimately, his bitterness wins, and, he leaves the U.S.A.  Luke arrives in Paris, France.  While in Paris, Luke learns of a war between Macedonia and the Ottoman Empire.  It appears that Macedonia is rebelling against the Ottoman Empire.  Luke feels inspired, and, he travels to the war.  Luke is able to become part of the war, on the Macedonian side.  He joins a gang of cattle thieves and bounty hunters, in order, to be part of the war.  Back at the apartment, Angela has difficulty breathing, and, she falls to the floor.  Subsequently, she is admitted to the hospital.  Edge visits Angela, at the hospital.  Angela dies in the hospital; Edge is there, and, he finishes telling the story of Luke and Elijah.  Ultimately, the stories of Luke and Elijah become one story, one more time.  Director Milcho Manchevski does a good job directing this movie.  The story is complicated; however, everything is in a linear sequence.  Unfortunately, as the writer, Milcho Manchevski doesn’t do a good job.  A second unfortunately, there are a lot of things, which cause the story to fall short.  A third unfortunately, the officially recognized stars don’t do a good job performing their roles.  There are a lot of things missing from the acting performances.  Overall, this movie earns the rating of 5 out of 10. 
The movie narrative is as follows.  In an urban downtown, Edge is inside someone’s apartment stealing things.  Edge is a black man, and, the urban downtown appears to be New York City.  Edge continues to search the apartment for money or things to steal.  Unexpectedly, an old woman appears in the dark, and, she reaches out for Edge.  Edge brutally beats the old woman.  The woman’s name is Angela.  Edge attempts to leave the apartment.  However, Angela appears with a gun, and, stops Edge from leaving.  She also fires a couple of shots in the process.  Angela sits Edge, down to talk.  The entire time, Angela points a gun at Edge.  For some reason, Angela starts to tell Edge a story.  The story is about her, but, it also appears to have a purpose.  Angela’s story starts when she was a teenager, during the Prohibition Era of the U.S.A.  Angela stops telling the story, because, she is old and has difficulty breathing.  Edge takes advantage of the situation, and, he attempts to hit Angela with a metal stick.  Angela reacts quickly, and, she breaks Edge’s nose.  Angela tosses Edge a gold coin that is part of a necklace.  Furthermore, she was wearing the necklace.  She also tells Edge that, he will get her gold, when he buries her where she was born.  Angela quickly continues telling Edge the story, which appears to have a purpose.  The scene changes, and, the story shifts to the Old West Era; of the U.S.A.  The story continues with two brothers.  Luke is the oldest brother, and, he can kill quickly.  Elijah is the younger brother, and, he was a different story; compared to Luke.  Luke and Elijah visit a brothel.  Luke introduces Elijah to the brothel, as a virgin.  The brothel introduces a special offer; a prostitute that does it French style.  The prostitute’s name is Lilith.  Luke and Elijah fight over Lilith.  Elijah wins, and, he falls in love with her.  The scene changes, and, Angela is telling Edge the story.  The scene changes, and, Elijah and Lilith are officially married.  For some reason, Lilith is crazy.  Furthermore, on her wedding day, she bites Elijah’s ear.  Elijah and Lilith have a daughter named, Sarah.  It appears that Sarah died.  Edge interrupts the story, and, the scene changes back to Angela.  Edge is having trouble, with his broken nose.  Angela continues with the story, and, the scene changes.  Luke decides to leave the U.S.A., and, he departs on a ship for France.  Only Lilith knows the reason.  Luke arrives in Paris, France.  Furthermore, he watches a news movie about a war between Macedonia and the Ottoman Empire.  The Macedonians appears to be rebels, against, the Ottoman Empire.  A man named The Teacher, appears to be, Czar of the rebels.  Luke feels inspired, and, he travels to the far wild east.  Luke joins a gang that is part of the rebel side, or, Macedonian side.  Everyone in this war wants gold.  Luke’s gang is also, a group of cattle thieves and bounty hunters.  The Teacher arrives, and, Luke takes part in an attack.  The attack appears to be an attack on sheep/goat herders.  The sheep/goat herders appear to be, on the side, of the Ottoman Empire.  The attack appears to be successful, but, for some reason Luke and The Teacher are involved in a fight.  The scene changes, and, Angela is telling the story to Edge.  Edge wants to leave, but, Angela points the gun and sits Edge down.  The scene changes, the story returns to Luke, and, it has been two years; since he left his brother.  Oddly enough, Elijah has been following his brother.  Furthermore, he arrives at his location.  Apparently, Luke captured The Teacher, because, he wants the bounty of gold, which is being offered for his head.  Unexpectedly, a gun fight starts, and, everyone appears to be fighting each other.  Elijah watches the battle from a distance, and, The Teacher escapes.  Elijah decides to fight in the battle.  Luke is captured by the Ottoman Empire.  Furthermore, he is taken to see an officer.  Elijah was also captured by the Ottoman Empire.  Unexpectedly, Luke and Elijah see each other for the first time.  Luke quickly takes a gun away from a soldier.  Elijah ends up standing next to Luke.  Furthermore, Luke points the gun to Elijah’s head.  Soldiers of the Ottoman Empire gather in a circle around, Luke and Elijah.  The soldiers also have their rifles pointed at them.  The scene changes, Angela stops telling the story, because, she falls to the floor.  She is also having tremendous difficulty breathing.  Edge takes Angela’s gun, and, he leaves the apartment.  For some unknown reason, Edge returns and calls an ambulance.  Additionally, Edge travels in the ambulance with Angela.  Angela is admitted to the hospital, and, Edge leaves to his home.  On his way home, Edge almost kills a man, who attempted to rob him.  The next morning, an unknown man enters Edge’s apartment and wakes him up.  The unknown man beats up Edge, and then, a woman enters.  Apparently, Edge stole and sold something that, is worth 6 thousand dollars.  The woman wants 8 thousand, and, Edge has one day to pay.  Furthermore, the woman breaks Edge’s thumb; for insurance purposes.  Edge returns to Angela’s apartment and looks for the gold, which Angela spoke about.  Edge tears the apartment apart, but, he cannot find the gold.  Edge visits Angela at the hospital.  Furthermore, he asks Angela for the gold.  Angela gives Edge a second gold coin, which is part of a ring that she was wearing.  Edge sits down, and, Angela returns to the story.  The scene changes, and, Luke is pointing his gun at Elijah.  Furthermore, soldiers of the Ottoman Empire are pointing their guns at them.  Luke kills a soldier that, is standing next to him.  For some unknown reason, the other soldiers start to laugh.  Luke hits Elijah with his gun, and, Elijah falls to the ground.  The scene changes, and, Edge is at the hospital asking Angela for the gold.  The scene changes, and, Angela returns to the story.  Luke is in the countryside.  Additionally, he travels by horse.  Luke falls off his horse, and, he is about to die.  Unexpectedly, a woman named Neda appears.  Neda rescues Luke.  Furthermore, Neda takes Luke to her home and village; unconscious.  During Luke’s unconscious state, he remembers Lilith.  The memory starts with Lilith washing clothes at the river.  Lilith takes Luke to New York, and, they watch Elijah as an old man.  Unexpectedly, Elijah dies.  Elijah’s daughter is also part of the memory.  The scene changes, Angela is at the hospital saying father a lot.  She is also by herself.  It appears that Elijah is Angela’s father.  Edge is walking on the streets of New York City.  Unexpectedly, the police stop, and, beat up Edge.  Furthermore, they want the 8 thousand that Edge owes.  The police break a second thumb, and, Edge is given 2 to 3 more days.  Edge returns to the hospital.  He also asks Angela for the gold.  Angela tells Edge that, he has to bury her where she was born, if he wants the gold.  Furthermore, she wants to be cremated first.  Edge points the gun at Angela, and, he demands the gold.  The scene changes, and, Angela continues telling the story.  Luke recovers at Neda’s house and village.  Apparently, Luke’s gun shot wound was caused by Elijah.  Luke passes time at Neda’s village.  Neda speaks English.  Luke and Neda pass time talking.  One night, Luke watches Neda having sex with an unknown man.  It results that, the unknown man is The Teacher.  Furthermore, Neda is pregnant, and, The Teacher is the father.  Luke remembers the day, when he and Lilith had sexual intercourse.  Luke watches soldiers of the Ottoman Empire torture a rebel.  Out of nowhere, The Teacher arrives and leads an attack.  The attack is successful.  One day, soldiers of the Ottoman Empire enter the village.  The officer speaks to the people of the village.  Furthermore, he shows them the head of The Teacher.  Neda watches from a distance, and, she becomes emotionally distraught.  Neda’s father gives Luke a large amount of gold coins.  He also asks Luke to take Neda with him, and, save the life of his grandchild.  Luke leaves with the gold coins.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t take Neda with him.  Luke remembers another day, in which, he had sexual intercourse with Lilith.  The scene changes, and, Edge is at the hospital with Angela.  A nurse interrupts the story, and, throws Edge out.  Edge returns to Angela’s apartment and tears it apart; one more time.  Finally, Edge finds the gold coins.  The gold coins were hidden inside of the refrigerator.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Angela dies and Edge finishes the story, by himself.  You have to watch, to know how, this movie ends.
