The synopsis follows.  Event Horizon (1997) is a science fiction thriller movie, out of the future.  In the future, space travel is achieved.  Furthermore, there are important benchmarks.  In the year 2015:  the first permanent colony is established on the moon.  In the year 2032:  commercial mining begins on the Planet Mars.  In the year 2040:  a deep space research vessel named Event Horizon is launched.  Unfortunately, around the Planet Neptune, the Event Horizon disappears.  The disappearance is considered to be, a disaster.  The present time, is the year 2047.  The Event Horizon has re-appeared.  Additionally, the Event Horizon is stuck in orbit, around the Planet Neptune.  The space ship doesn’t have the artificial gravity turned on.  Unexpectedly, a bloodied and lacerated Dr. William Weir screams in terror.  The real Dr. Weir wakes up; and he looks at pictures of his wife, Claire.  Surprisingly, Dr. Weir is onboard the space station “Daylight Station.”  The Daylight Station orbits, the Planet Earth.  Dr. Weir is asked to report to the “Lewis & Clark” at the 4th docking bay.  The U.S.A.C. Vessel, Lewis & Clark leaves the Daylight Station, on a mission.  The Lewis & Clark is a search and rescue space ship.  The mission is top secret.  The ship’s crew, prepares to leave for the Planet Neptune.  The crew rants and raves about the mission.  Captain Miller re-focuses the crew’s attention, and, he initiates Ion Drive.  The crew leaves the ship’s bridge, and, Ion Drive will start in 10 minutes.  Dr. Weir attempts to talk to Captain Miller.  However, everyone is preparing to leave for the gravity tanks.  At the gravity tanks, everyone prepares to enter a gravity couch.  Med. Tech. Peters helps Dr. Weir.  D.J., the trauma surgeon, finishes preparing Dr. Weir for the gravity couch.  Officially, the Lewis & Clark is 56 days, into the mission.  Surprisingly, Dr. Weir is the first person to wake up.  He exits the gravity couch and looks around.  He also hears voices.  Dr. Weir looks around and asks, if anyone is there.  Unexpectedly and in the ship’s bridge, Dr. Weir finds a naked Claire.  Claire says that, she feels cold.  A second Claire grabs Dr. Weir’s shoulder.  The second Claire says, I’m waiting.  She also doesn’t have eyes.  Out of nowhere, Dr. Weir is inside the gravity couch.  He screams in terror and attempts to get out.  Dr. Weir exits the gravity couch.  Peters is there, and, she helps Dr. Weir.  At this point, the crew has been in Stasis for 56 days.  The Lewis & Clark successfully arrives at the orbit, of the Planet Neptune.  Furthermore, they are able to find and board, the Event Horizon.  Dr. Weir reveals himself to be, the builder of the Event Horizon.  Furthermore, he reveals that the Event Horizon can travel faster than the speed of light.  This is done by creating an artificial black hole.  Unfortunately, the artificial black hole also releases the “dark.”  The dark causes dementia in people.  While onboard the Event Horizon, the crew of the Lewis & Clark releases the dark.  Director, Paul W.S. Anderson, does a good job.  This world of space travel does come to life.  Additionally, the story is presented in a coherent manner.  Unfortunately, some things fall short.  On the positive side, Laurence Fishburne as Captain Miller was an excellent decision.  Furthermore, Sam Neill as Dr. William Weir was another excellent decision.  All of the actors, go with their respective character.  The writer does an equally good job.  The story is presented in a coherent way.  Additionally, the secret fears of each character, are successfully communicated.  The psychological thriller part of this movie, is easily understood.  Regrettably, several things fall short.  There is also, a lot of empty space.  The officially recognized stars do a good job performing their roles.  Overall, this movie earns the rating of 5 out of 10.

Tech. Peters helps Dr. Weir.  D.J., the trauma surgeon, finishes preparing Dr. Weir for the gravity couch.  Dr. Weir enters the gravity couch. D.J. arrives to help, with Dr. Weir.  Cooper offers coffee, to Dr. Weir.  Dr. Weir rejects the coffee.  Captain Miller arrives, in order, to reprimand Lt. Starck.  Lt. Starck is a woman.  Furthermore, she’s supposed to be in the ship’s bridge.  Captain Miller orders the crew to return to work.  Peters watches video of her son, Denny Peters.  Captain Miller arrives to talk to Peters.  He apologizes to her, because, he put her on the mission.  Peters says that, her husband will take her son for the winter.  Additionally, she will have Denny for the summer.  Smith arrives, and, he makes an announcement.  They will be arriving in the orbit of the Planet Neptune, in 2 hours and 23 minutes.  Everything appears to be going well, and, on schedule.  Captain Miller sits everyone down, for a brief meeting.  He introduces the crew to Dr. William Weir.  First is Starck, the lieutenant.  Second is Mr. Justin, from engineering.  Third is Cooper, the rescue technician.  Fourth is Peters, the medical technician.  Fifth is Mr. Smith, the pilot.  Sixth is D.J., the trauma surgeon.  Cooper asks Captain Miller, what’s the nature of the mission?  Captain Miller asks Dr. Weir, to tell the crew.  Apparently, previous missions to the Planet Neptune have been disastrous.  Dr. William Weir reveals that, a radio transmission was received.  The origin is from the “Event Horizon,” around the Planet Neptune.  Surprisingly, the crew stands up in an outrage.  Captain Miller calms down the crew.  Dr. Weir continues talking about the Event Horizon.  To the public, the Event Horizon is a deep space research vessel.  Additionally, it blew up in space.  In reality, the Event Horizon is a secret government project.  The effort was to create a spacecraft that is capable, of faster than light flight.  Smith and Lt. Starck interrupt to argue, the Law of Relativity.  Dr. Weir says that, the Law of Relativity can be broken.  Dr. Weir attempts to explain.  A rotating magnetic field can focus a narrow beam of gravitons.  These gravitons, in turn, fold space and time.  Captain Miller asks for a more simple explanation.  Dr. Weir attempts to explain.  He folds Point A and Point B together, on a piece of paper.  The gateway, on the Event Horizon, folds space and time.  Therefore, Point A and Point B co-exist, in the same space and time.  The phenomenon is called Gravity Drive.  Dr. William Weir reveals that, he is the builder.  Furthermore, he also reveals that, the first mission was going well.  Unexpectedly, the Event Horizon simply disappeared; until now.  The mission is also to find out, where the Event Horizon, has been for the last 7 years.  Dr. Weir plays an audio tape, which was part of the radio transmission.  The filtered audio tape, reveals a man speaking in Latin.  D.J. attempts to do a translation.  D.J. says that the audio says, save me.  Captain Miller orders the crew, to their work stations.  The Lewis & Clark arrives, at the Planet Neptune.  Captain Miller commands the ship.  They find the Event Horizon’s location.  There is also a storm.  Smith pilots the ship.  The Lewis & Clark shakes, due to the storm.  Lt. Starck attempts radio communication.  Reverse thrusters are turned on, and, the Event Horizon is found.  They find the airlock.  They also use the arm, and, hold on to the Event Horizon.  Lt. Starck initiates a signal read, for signs of life.  The Event Horizon, is in a state of deep cold.  Lt. Starck reveals that, the Event Horizon shows traces of life.  However, a specific location cannot be found.  Captain Miller orders a search, of the Event Horizon; deck by deck and floor by floor.  He also orders Dr. Weir to stay, on the Lewis & Clark.  Dr. Weir argues with Captain Miller.  Captain Miller orders Dr. Weir to stay on the ship’s bridge.  Captain Miller, Justin and Peters put on space suits, and, exit the Lewis & Clark.  Lt. Starck stays with Dr. Weir, on the ship’s bridge.  Captain Miller, Justin and Peters cross over to the Event Horizon, through the umbilicus.  They open the air lock door and enter.  The Event Horizon is in a deep freeze.  There are also ice crystals.  Dr. Weir gives instructions, through the radio.  Justin is ordered to search, the rear part of the Event Horizon.  Peters and Captain Miller, will search the front parts, of the Event Horizon.  Unexpectedly, Peters and Captain Miller, find explosive devices on the central corridor.  Dr. Weir reveals that, the central corridor is supposed to be destroyed in an emergency.  Furthermore, the space ship splits into two parts.  The forward part, is used as a life boat.  The search inside the Event Horizon, continues.  Unexpectedly, Captain Miller is scarred by a flying glove.  Justin arrives at a large door.  He enters, and, there is a tunnel of metal that circles a walk path.  Justin walks on the walk path.  He also talks on the radio, to Dr. Weir.  Peters arrives at the ship’s bridge.  There are human skulls and flesh, smeared on the walls.  Justin continues to look and talk on the radio.  Peters continues to look around the ship’s bridge.  Unexpectedly, Peters crashes into a rotten dead body.  Dr. Weir, Lt. Starck, Smith and D.J. watch through Peters’s video camera.  Justin finds the core, of the gravity drive.  At the core, things turn off.  Additionally, Justin’s video camera breaks up.  Justin finds a liquid metal wall.  Unexpectedly, Justin is pulled into the liquid metal wall.  Cooper runs in to help, and, there is a magnetic explosion.  The magnetic explosion travels inside the Event Horizon and onto the Lewis & Clark.  Inside the Lewis & Clark, a fire becomes ignited.  An alarm sounds, because, the hull is damaged.  Cooper arrives at the core, of the gravity drive.  Cooper pulls out Justin.  Smith reports the damage of the Lewis & Clark, to Captain Miller.  Additionally, the Lewis & Clark is out of oxygen.  Captain Miller orders everyone to cross over, to the Event Horizon.  In the ship’s bridge, Peters turns on the artificial gravity.  The artificial gravity becomes activated.  Dr. Weir brings back, the Event Horizon, to life.  Lt. Starck reports that, the Event Horizon doesn’t have communications.  She also reports that, there is oxygen for only 20 hours.  Smith reports the hull damage, to Captain Miller.  Smith reports a 7-meter fracture.  Smith thinks that the damage can be repaired, however, it will take time.  Surprisingly, Captain Miller asks Dr. Weir, what happened?  Justin is unconscious, from the magnetic explosion.  D.J. and Peters conduct a medical examination.  Cooper reveals that, he saw the liquid metal wall.  Dr. Weir doesn’t believe Cooper.  He also reveals that, the liquid metal wall is the gateway.  The gateway cannot exist when, the gravity drive is not activated.  Captain Miller calms down the group.  He also says that, he believes Cooper.  He asks Dr. Weir, for an explanation.  Dr. Weir says; in my view, Mr. Cooper’s delusional.  Cooper becomes angry at Dr. Weir.  Dr. Weir says that, everything is an optical illusion or effect.  Captain Miller asks for more information.  Dr. Weir says that, the explosion was gravity waves from the core.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t believe that, this is the situation.  Captain Miller continues to demand answers.  Dr. Weir explains the core.  The core creates an artificial black hole.  The black hole bends time and space.  Dr. Weir, Captain Miller and Lt. Starck walk around the core.  Theoretically, they believe Justin traveled, to where the Event Horizon has been.  Captain Miller orders that the core, should be sealed off.  Dr. Weir doesn’t agree with Captain Miller.  Unexpectedly, something changes in Dr. Weir.  Peters looks at video files, of the Event Horizon’s crew.  Unexpectedly, she hears noises, and, walks around.  Out of nowhere, Peters finds her son.  Denny Peters has a body, which is rotting.  Surprisingly, D.J. arrives and Denny Peters disappears.  Smith enters the Event Horizon, and, Cooper is there to greet him.  Peters plays the video files, for Dr. Weir and Captain Miller.  Peters says that, she will continue to work on the video files.  The space ship, Event Horizon, unexpectedly loses electrical power.  Captain Miller and Dr. Weir go to the core.  Dr. Weir looks around, the inside part of the core.  Justin begins to shake, in an uncontrollable manner.  D.J. attempts to help Justin.  Out of nowhere, Justin speaks and says that, the dark is coming.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  The dark arrives, the way Justin said.  The dark takes Justin’s body, as the host.  Smith activates explosive devices, inside the Event Horizon.  Everything becomes a complete catastrophe.  The dark continues to live through Dr. Weir, or, Dr. Weir’s body.  You have to watch, to know, about the catastrophe.  Furthermore, to know, who survives the catastrophe.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
