Movie Narrative: The Newton Boys (1998)


The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration.  For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie Narratives, continues showing its love for movies with another movie narrative.  This week, The Newton Boys (1998), will be converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted.  It is implied that the blog reader reads the movie narrative, and then, he or she watches the movie.  The effort is to give the blog reader, an enhanced experience.  RB28’s Movie Narratives, ends this movie narrative of The Newton Boys (1998), with some Hollywood facts.

            The synopsis follows.  The Newton Boys (1998) is a crime story, out of the State of Texas, U.S.A.  It is the year 1919.  The location is Uvalde County, Texas U.S.A.  Willis Newton walks on a dirt road.  Joe Newton attempts to break-in a wild horse.  Jess Newton helps Joe.  Surprisingly, Willis Newtown arrives, and, he watches his brothers.  Apparently, Willis was in prison.  Willis and Jess talk about things.  There is another brother named Dock, who is still in jail.  Joe arrives, and, he greets Willis.  Apparently, Willis has been out of prison, for about a year.  Willis was working as a farm hand; picking cotton.  Apparently, their father has disappeared.  Mother Newton, or Ma, cooks dinner.  Mother Newton, also has, several other children.  The Newton Brothers eat dinner.  Willis doesn’t plan to stay, at the farm.  After dinner, Willis and Mother Newton talk about things.  Willis shares that, he almost got married.  Willis was in a relationship, with one of the daughters, of the owner of the farm.  The owner of the farm found out, about the relationship.  Furthermore, the owner ended the relationship, because, Willis had been in prison.  Willis could have stayed, and, continued working as a farm hand.  However, Willis decided to leave.  Willis arrives at a town.  At a bar, Willis meets up with Mr. Glasscock and Slim.  Slim, is the brains of the operation.  Willis, Mr. Glasscock and Slim are going to rob a bank.  They plan to enter the bank, at 12 noon.  The location is the State of Oklahoma, U.S.A.  The men travel by horse to the bank.  Slim and Willis enter the bank, and, Willis leads the robbery.  Unexpectedly, Mr. Glasscock grabs a civilian, and, he enters the bank.  The men finish robbing the bank, and, they flee on a horse.  The Law chases on an automobile.  The Law starts to fire their weapons.  Slim is hit, and, he is captured.  Willis and Mr. Glasscock successfully escape.  Willis meets up with Mr. Glasscock, at a hotel.  They start to talk about the money.  Apparently, Mr. Glasscock was the only person, who escaped with money.  Willis wants to continue robbing banks.  Willis also wants to start robbing big banks.  Willis and Mr. Glasscock sell the Victory Bonds, which they stole, to another bank.  They sell everything for 85 cents to the dollar.  The bank gives Willis and Mr. Glasscock a list.  The list has the names of banks and department stores, which have large squared vaults or safes.  Willis, Mr. Glasscock and Mrs. Glasscock research a bank.  Mr. Glasscock reports that, the bank is good to go.  However, they decide to wait for the harvest season.  Additionally, they decide that they need more men.  The new men will be security, and, they will watch the front.  Surprisingly, Willis invites his brothers; Jess and Joe.  Jess and Joe arrive, in order, to join the group.  Another brother named Dock also arrives, in order, to join the group.  The Newton Brothers, along with Mr. Glasscock, enjoy a long streak of luck and successful bank robberies.  A failed oil business venture; bankrupts the Newton Brothers, and, Mr. Glasscock.  Everything depends on a successful train robbery, outside the City of Chicago.  Director, Richard Linklater, does a good job.  The violence is in a good middle spot.  Furthermore, the scenes where the banks are robbed are, fun and exciting.  The towns and the clothes, go with everything, which is happening in the movie.  The writers do an equally good job.  The Willis Newton character is a good character.  Furthermore, this character moves the story along, in an easy manner.  Additionally, Joe and Jess Newton are good complimentary characters.  The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously.  They would be missed, if they were not chosen.  Special recognition is merited to Matthew McConaughey, for the Willis Newton character.  Overall, The Newton Boys (1998) earns the rating of 7 out of 10.

Willis was in a relationship, with one of the daughters, of the owner of the farm.  The owner of the farm found out, about the relationship.  Furthermore, the owner ended the relationship, because, Willis had been in prison.  Willis could have stayed, and, continued working as a farm hand.  However, Willis decided to leave.  Mother Newtown believes that, Willis should have stayed working at the farm.  Willis feels angry, and, he doesn’t agree.  Willis arrives at a town.  Willis stops and donates money to orphans.  At a bar, Willis meets-up with Mr. Glasscock and Slim.  Slim, is the brains of the operation.  Willis, Mr. Glasscock and Slim are going to rob a bank.  They plan to enter the bank, at 12 noon.  The bartender arrives at the table.  They talk about oil being discovered, in the area.  Apparently, a local Native American Tribe benefited the most.  The Chief of the Tribe is the new owner, of the bar.  The location is the State of Oklahoma, U.S.A.  The men travel by horse to the bank.  Slim and Willis enter the bank.  Willis leads the robbery.  Unexpectedly, Mr. Glasscock grabs a civilian, and, he enters the bank.  The men finish robbing the bank, and, they flee on a horse.  The Law chases on an automobile.  The Law starts to fire their weapons.  Slim is hit, and, he is captured.  Willis and Mr. Glasscock, successfully escape.  Willis meets-up with Mr. Glasscock, at a hotel.  Mrs. Glasscock is present.  Mrs. Glasscock is named Avis.  They start to talk about the money.  Apparently, Mr. Glasscock was the only person, who escaped with money.  Willis wants to continue robbing banks.  Willis also wants to start robbing, big banks.  For the next bank, Willis will do all of the preparations.  Mr. Glasscock is going to be in charge, of the explosives.  Apparently, Mr. Glasscock carries nitroglycerin.  Willis and Mr. Glasscock sell the Victory Bonds, which they stole, to another bank.  They sell everything for 85 cents to the dollar.  The bank gives Willis and Mr. Glasscock a list.  The list has the names of banks and department stores, which have large squared vaults or safes.  Willis starts to live at a hotel, in Oklahoma.  At the hotel, Willis notices a cashier; romantically.  Willis, Mr. Glasscock and Mrs. Glasscock research a bank.  Mr. Glasscock reports that, the bank is good to go.  The explosives, should work on the safes or vaults.  They decide to wait for the harvest season.  Additionally, they decide that, they need more men.  The new men will be security, and, they will watch the front.  Surprisingly, Willis invites his brothers; Jess and Joe.  Jess and Joe arrive, in order, to join the group.  The city is Omaha, Nebraska.  Willis buys Joe and Jess new clothes.  Outside the tailor shop, Jess meets women.  At a restaurant, Jess meets-up with the women.  Jess tells them crazy stories.  At the same time, Joe and Willis eat dinner.  Joe is reluctant to rob banks.  Willis attempts to convince Joe, otherwise.  Additionally, Willis feels that, robbing banks is correct.  Due to the fact that, the banks have the money insured.  Grudgingly, Joe agrees to rob banks.  The night of the robbery, Joe and Jess wait on the street.  Inside the bank, Willis and Mr. Glasscock prepare the explosives.  Mr. Glasscock pours the nitroglycerin and lights the fuse.  Outside, Jess pulls Joe away from a window.  Two seconds later, there is an explosion.  A woman wakes up, and, she starts to argue with Jess and Joe.  The woman sounds a siren.  Willis and Mr. Glasscock start to take away the money.  Additionally, Willis sends in Joe for more money.  Unexpectedly, a man opens fire on Jess.  Jess fires back.  Jess continues to argue with the woman.  The group loads the money, and, they drive away.  At the hotel, Joe sends back to his mother, a horse saddle.  Willis talks to the cashier.  The cashier sells the newspapers and magazines.  Willis continues to have a romantic interest; in the woman/cashier.  The woman closes the newspaper kiosk.  The woman is named, Louise.  Louise walks away, and, Willis chases after Louise.  Willis tells a group of people a crazy story, in order, to impress Louise.  Willis and Louise pass time talking.  Willis pretends to be, in the oil business.  Louise confesses that, she has a son.  Willis and Louise agree to meet-up again.  In a hotel room, the Newton Brothers count the money.  Willis thinks about entering the oil business.  Unexpectedly, the other brother, Dock, arrives.  Dock is recently released from prison, and, he is eager to join the group.  Willis meets-up with Louise.  Additionally, Louise’s son is present.  The three pass time together.  In the field, the Newton Brothers make preparations and conduct research, in order, to rob banks.  They also talk about things.  Willis is meticulous with the planning.  Time passes, and, it is the year 1921.  The location is Hondo, Texas.  Willis cuts telephone cables.  Jess, Dock and Joe carry weapons.  Additionally, they have a man tied up.  Jess leaves the man money; for the trouble.  The group prepares, to rob the bank.  Willis decides to change the plans.  Willis and the group, are going to rob two banks; instead of one.  The group agrees to rob two banks.  Willis starts the action, and, Joe stays on the streets to watch.  Dock opens a door with his shotgun.  Willis is with Dock.  Mr. Glasscock prepares the nitroglycerin explosives.  At the other bank, Willis pours the nitroglycerin.  The fuses are lit, and, everyone is ready for the explosion.  Unexpectedly, a farmer on a horse and carriage enters the town.  Joe attempts to send the farmer away.  However, the farmer refuses to listen.  The explosives go off; one after the other.  The farmer is caught in the middle, but, nothing happens to the farmer.  The next morning, the town looks at the destruction.  The man, who was tied up, is interviewed by The Law.  At the hotel, Willis talks to Louise.  Willis shows off money.  Unexpectedly, the police arrive, in order, to arrest Willis.  Dock and Jess escape the arrest.  In a jail cell, Willis and Joe re-unite with each other.  A witness identifies Joe Newton.  Surprisingly, the arrest is for robbing a movie theater; not a bank.  Willis pops up, and, he thinks of a way out.  Surprisingly, Willis talks his way out of jail.  The Newton Brothers celebrate at a dance.  In the car, Willis and Louise kiss.  Willis confesses to Louise that, he is not in the oil business.  But rather, he is a professional gambler.  Inside; Dock, Jess and Joe pass time with their dates.  Furthermore, they confess that they are bank robbers, and, not in the oil business.  The Newton Brothers have photographs taken.  The Newton Brothers continue to rob banks and celebrate.  They travel to other states in the country, in order, to rob banks.  Louise is officially with Willis.  Willis is a step-father to Louise’s son.  The bank robberies continue, along with the celebrations.  Willis officially enters the oil business.  The bank robberies and celebrations continue.  It is the year 1923.  In a corn field, the Newton Brothers talk.  Federal law enforcement talks to an insurance company, about the bank robberies.  The Newton Brothers, are officially targeted by federal law enforcement.  The Newton Brothers leave Willis, at his house.  Unexpectedly, Slim appears to talk to Willis.  Slim tells Willis that, he is working in Chicago.  Furthermore, that they have a mutual friend; Murray.  Slim offers criminal work, if Willis is interested.  The offer is also for, the Newton Brothers.  Inside the house, Louise talks to Willis about their finances.  Furthermore, Louise believes that, Willis has too much money.  Louise also wants to know Willis’s real name.  Louise and Willis start to argue, with each other.  Willis confesses to Louise that, he robs banks.  Willis promises that, he has all of the intentions, to enter the oil business.  The next bank, which they are going to rob, is in Toronto Canada.  Willis invites Louise, in order, to make her feel better.  Willis reveals that, his last name is Newton.  They kiss, and, the group travels to Toronto Canada.  Avis talks to Louise about things.  The Newton Brothers and Mr. Glasscock meet up.  They talk about the next bank robbery.  Unexpectedly, there is an explosion.  A safe, or vault, door flies across the street.  Dock and Jess almost get hit, by the flying door.  Unfortunately, the bank doesn’t have money.  Willis and Louise travel around, the City of Toronto.  Willis is frustrated, due to the failed bank robbery.  On the streets of Toronto, Willis notices that a bank takes money to a second location; on foot.  Willis holds a meeting, to talk about, what he saw.  Mr. Glasscock and the Newton Brothers improvise a bank robbery; during the middle of the day.  Willis assigns the men, the bags of money, which they are going to steal.  The weapons are out, and, the robbery begins.  Unexpectedly, Willis’s shotgun jams, and, he loses the shotgun.  However, Willis recovers with his handgun.  The robbery becomes violent.  The weapons begin to be fired, and, the group makes their escape.  The shots continue to be fired.  The group stops, and, they argue amongst themselves.  Louise returns to the hotel.  Louise tells Willis that, everyone knows about the robbery.  Willis feels tormented.  Mr. Glasscock and Joe, pass time at a movie theater.  At the hotel, Louise reads the newspaper.  The newspaper article is about the bank robbery.  Willis continues to promise to Louise that, they will enter, the oil business.  It is the year 1924.  Willis is officially, in the oil business.  Willis’s oil well is named, Louise #1.  Unfortunately, there is no oil, in the oil well.  The oil business venture is a complete failure.  The Newton Brothers, are out of money.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Willis talks to Slim, and, the Newton Brothers ask for criminal work in Chicago.  Everything depends on robbing a train, which carries money.  During the train robbery, Dock Newton is almost killed.  Dock Newton recovers at an unknown location.  This causes the police, and, other criminals to find out; about the train robbery.  The Newton Brothers are arrested.  Furthermore, they make a deal with the Federal Government.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
