Movie Narrative: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)


The captivation of moving pictures is a source of tremendous inspiration.  For this reason and many more, RB28’s Movie Narratives, continues showing its love for movies with another movie narrative.  This week, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), will be converted into a narrative and subsequently highlighted.  It is implied that the blog reader reads the movie narrative, and then, he or she watches the movie.  The effort is to give the blog reader, an enhanced experience.  RB28’s Movie Narratives, ends this movie narrative of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), with some Hollywood facts.

            The synopsis follows.  Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) is a captivating science fiction story, out of a fictitious past.  In a fictitious past, which is cleverly combined with, a future of fantasy a mysterious scientist is transporting vital information.  His name is Dr. Vargas, and, he arrives in a fantasy New York City.  Polly Perkins is a newspaper reporter.  Interestingly and in her circle of conversation, there is a lot of talk about missing scientists.  Additionally, she receives a package, with the information for a meeting location.  Perkins meets a man named Dr. Jennings, at a movie theater.  Dr. Jennings tells Perkins that, Totenkopf is behind the missing scientist.  Furthermore, he tells Perkins about a secret project called, Unit 11.  Dr. Jennings also leaves behind, a technical drawing/blue print for Perkins to find.  Dr. Jennings runs away, and, in short time New York City is attacked, by giant robots.  An emergency protocol is sent to Sky Captain.  Sky Captain does answer the call, and, he flies into the city; to help fight the giant robots.  After the attack, Perkins goes to see, Sky Captain.  Additionally, when Sky Captain arrives, she is already waiting for him in his office.  It results that, they were once in a romantic relationship.  Perkins shows the technical drawing/blue print, to Sky Captain.  Perkins tells Sky Captain about Totenkopf, and, something called Unit 11.  Perkins and Sky Captain, travel back into the city, in order to look for Dr. Jennings.  Ultimately and after an arduous journey, Sky Captain and Perkins are able to find, Totenkopf’s island and Totenkopf.  Director, Kerry Conran, does a good job.  The combination of animation and live-action, is indeed, successfully captured.  Additionally, it is very good cinematography.  Furthermore, the fictitious world that, he creates is incredible and believable.  This world, is a fictitious past cleverly combined with, a future of fantasy.  The writer, Kerry Conran, does an equally good job.  Additionally, he writes a superb Sky Captain.  The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously.  They would be missed, if they were not chosen.  Special recognition is merited to Jude Law for an excellent Sky Captain.  Overall, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) earns the rating of 7 out of 10. 
            The movie narrative of, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), is as follows.  This movie takes place in a fictitious world of the past.  This world of the past, also combines elements, of a science fiction future.  Aboard a blimp that, is used as a passenger aircraft, is a mysterious scientist who is transporting vital information.  His name is Dr. Vargas, and, he arrives in a fantasy New York City.  Polly Perkins is a newspaper reporter.  Interestingly and in her circle of conversation, there is a lot of talk about missing scientists.  Additionally, she receives a package, with the information for a meeting location.  Perkins meets a man named Dr. Jennings, at a movie theater.  Dr. Jennings tells Perkins that, Totenkopf is behind the missing scientist.  Furthermore, he tells Perkins about a secret project called, Unit 11.  Dr. Jennings also leaves behind, a technical drawing/blue print for Perkins to find.  Dr. Jennings runs away, and, in short time New York City is attacked, by giant robots.  An emergency protocol is sent to Sky Captain.  Sky Captain does answer the call, and, he flies into the city; to help fight the giant robots.  Additionally, Sky Captain flies a WWII era propeller war airplane.  It results that, the attack is a coordinated attack, on several cities, around the world.  Sky Captain returns to his military base.  The soldiers at Sky Captain’s base capture, one of the giant robots.  Perkins goes to see, Sky Captain.  Additionally, when Sky Captain arrives, she is already waiting for him in his office.  It results that, they were once in a romantic relationship.  Perkins shows the technical drawing/blue print, to Sky Captain.  Perkins tells Sky Captain about Totenkopf, and, something called Unit 11.  Perkins and Sky Captain, travel back into the city, in order to look for Dr. Jennings.  They do find Dr. Jennings’s lab.  Inside the lab, Sky Captain fights a mysterious woman.  However, the mysterious woman is able, to escape.  Before he dies, Dr. Jennings is able to give Perkins, a few metal veils.  Furthermore, he also warns that Totenkopf, will end the world.  Sky Captain and Perkins, return to the military base.  Immediately upon their return, the base is attacked by war airplanes that, flap their wings like birds.  Sky Captain and Perkins fly up and fight, the enemy war airplanes.  Regrettably, more robots attack the military base, whilst, Sky Captain and Perkins are still in the air.  The second attack is led, by the mysterious woman.  A soldier named Dex, is captured during the attack.  Sky Captain cannot outrun the enemy war airplanes, and, he dives his airplane into the ocean.  Fascinatingly, his airplane can convert, into, a submarine.  Sky Captain and Perkins escape, and, they return to a destroyed military base.  Upon their return, there are still some enemy robots that, are still there.  Sky Captain is almost captured, but the mysterious woman, orders a retreat.  Sky Captain and Perkins, find a note from Dex.  Dex believes that, the source of the robots is, Nepal.  During their long flight, they look through Dr. Jennings’s possessions.  In a twist to things, the possessions end up being, Dr. Vargas’s possessions.  Apparently, Dr. Vargas had evidence that, Totenkopf is building a dooms day device.  The long flight takes Sky Captain and Perkins, to Tibet.  Sky Captain and Perkins, add a man named Kaji, to the group.  The group travels on foot, to Nepal.  The group finds a giant abandoned building.  Inside the building, they are attacked by two men.  The men take the metal veils.  However, Sky Captain’s group finds a way to escape the building, before it explodes.  Fortunately, the group is rescued by, local people.  The group is taken to Shangri-La.  During the stay in Shangri-La, a man reveals to Sky Captain, Totenkopf’s location.  Sky Captain and Perkins, successfully rendezvous with a woman named, Franky.  This woman, Franky, is aboard a secret British, mobile airstrip.  Regrettably, the secret British mobile airstrip is attacked, by the enemy.  However, they believe that they know, the location of Totenkopf’s island.  Furthermore, it is also believed, to be in the area.  Sky Captain and Perkins escape the battle with Franky, and, they leave towards Totenkopf’s island.  Franky sacrifices her aircraft, and, she opens the island’s entrance.  Sky Captain and Perkins, successfully find Totenkopf’s lair.  They also find Dex and Unit 11.  Unfortunately, they discover the dooms day device, and that, it is on a programmed timer.  The dooms day device is a giant rocket.  Once it is activated, the Planet Earth will be exploded from the inside.  Finally, the group is able to find where, Totenkopf is located.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
