Movie Narrative: Soldiers of Fortune (2012)

            The synopsis follows.  Soldiers of Fortune (2012) is a video game type of war movie, about mercenaries.  In Afghanistan and during the summer of 2008, Capt. Reed and Capt. McCenzie execute a mission against the Taliban.  The mission is in the Helmand Province, and, the objective is to locate the Taliban’s weapons cache.  Capt. Reed enters a Taliban village disguised as a woman.  Capt. McCenzie stays behind and hides.  Furthermore, he is the sniper.  Unexpectedly, a C.I.A contractor arrives, escorted by Taliban soldiers.  McCenzie confirms the identity with Mission Control.  A short time later, Mission Control cancels the mission.  At the same time, Capt. Reed has been captured by the Taliban.  Furthermore, the C.I.A. contractor leads the interrogation.  McCenzie decides to disobey orders, and, he executes an attack on the Taliban village.  McCenzie successfully enters the Taliban village.  Furthermore, Capt. Reed is located and rescued.  4 years later and in the State of Montana, U.S.A., Reed and McCenzie are in financial trouble.  McCenzie is a gambler, and, he is out of money and luck.  One day, McCenzie arrives at a biker hangout place to gamble.  Unexpectedly, an unknown man and woman pull out their guns, and, steal the money.  Before the robbery, McCenzie had accepted a money loan, in order, to continue gambling.  During the robbery, McCenzie takes a gun and holds up the man, and, woman.  Unexpectedly, everything stops and McCenzie is informed that, everything is a stunt.  A stunt, the way it would happen, in a movie.  McCenzie and Reed meet up to talk about, their money troubles.  A short time later, the woman and man meet up with McCenzie.  The man is named Ernesto, and, he is the brother of the woman.  The woman is named, Cecilia.  Cecilia offers McCenzie, and Reed, an opportunity to become mercenaries.  Their first mission is a very specific mission.  The mercenary organization also does a program for millionaires.  The program is called, Solider of Fortune Adventure Program.  The program allows millionaires the opportunity to experience a war, with real mercenaries.  Through the program, McCenzie and Reed, are expected to lead a mission against an Eastern European Colonel.  McCenzie agrees, and, he and Reed become mercenaries.  Furthermore, they agree to lead the Soldier of Fortune Adventure Program.  Director, Maxim Korostyshevsky, does a good job.  The action of this war movie, feels like a video game.  Oddly enough, the island which was used for Snake Island, looks and feels like the appropriate island.  The writers do an equally good job.  The story is an original story.  Furthermore, the McCenzie character is a good character.  The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously.  They would be missed, if they were not chosen.  Special recognition is merited to Sean Bean and Ving Rhames.  Both actors add a good amount of depth, to this movie.  Overall, Soldiers of Fortune (2012) earns the rating of 6 out of 10. 
            The movie narrative of, Soldiers of Fortune (2012), is as follows.  The country is the Country of Afghanistan.  During the summer of 2008, and, in the Helmand Province; the mission is to locate the Taliban’s weapons cache.  Capt. Craig McCenzie and Capt. Mike Reed are assigned, to complete the mission.  Capt. Reed enters a Taliban village disguised as a woman.  Capt. McCenzie hides, and, he is the sniper.  Reed walks around the village.  Unfortunately, an old man starts to follow him.  Unexpectedly, a C.I.A. agent arrives.  He is escorted by Taliban soldiers.  McCenzie confirms the identity with, Mission Control.  The man is a C.I.A. contractor.  Reed is about to be captured, meanwhile, Mission Control aborts the mission through McCenzie.  Reed is captured, and, McCenzie leaves to attack.  McCenzie attacks, in order, to enter the village.  Reed is tied down, and, the C.I.A. contractor arrives to interrogate him.  McCenzie enters the village, and, the attack continues.  The C.I.A. contractor tells Reed that, he cannot endanger his operation.  The C.I.A. contractor attempts, to cut Reed’s testicles off.  McCenzie continues attacking.  McCenzie enters the room, where Reed is being held.  The C.I.A. contractor pretends to be a friend.  McCenzie beats up the C.I.A. contractor, anyway.  McCenzie cuts the ropes, and, he releases Reed.  McCenzie and Reed escape, the Taliban village.  The scene changes, and, it is 4 years later.  In the State of Montana, U.S.A., McCenzie rides a motorcycle.  He arrives at a location full of bikers.  At the location, there is illegal gambling.  McCenzie gambles at a table, and, he loses.  McCenzie attempts to bet his motorcycle.  The idea is rejected.  McCenzie accepts a money loan, instead.  Unexpectedly, a man and a woman pull out their guns.  They argue about winning the card game.  The argument becomes a robbery, and, one man is killed.  Unexpectedly, more people arrive, and, a gunfight starts.  More people die, and, McCenzie has his loan money stolen.  McCenzie takes a gun, and, he holds the woman down.  Unexpectedly, everything stops and McCenzie is told that, it is a stunt.  A stunt, the way it would happen, in a movie.  McCenzie doesn’t talk business and leaves.  McCenzie and Reed drink beer, in Reed’s kitchen.  They talk about being out of money.  Reed wants to become a mercenary, in order, to make money.  Reed has also lost his house.  The scene changes, and, a television commercial is shown.  The T.V. commercial highlights the Soldier of Fortune Adventure Program.  The program is for millionaires, who want to experience the adventure of war.  Through the program, the individual millionaire travels to a real war.  Additionally, the millionaire lives with a real mercenary organization, and, mercenary soldiers.  One morning, McCenzie is woken up by motorcycle noises.  McCenzie discovers a woman waiting outside.  The woman has a table ready; for breakfast.  It results that, McCenzie is a one man, security guard business.  The man is also there.  The man is the woman’s brother, and, he is named Ernesto.  Ernesto serves the breakfast.  McCenzie and the woman, talk business.  The woman starts to talk about, the C.I.A. contractor.  The contractor’s name is, Carter Mason.  The woman continues talking business.  The woman starts to talk about a man named, Colonel Lupo.  Additionally, it is about a military mission.  The location is an island in Eastern Europe, called Snake Island.  The island could belong to Romania or Ukraine.  However, Colonel Lupo took control of the island.  Carter Mason is Lupo’s head of security.  The woman’s name is, Cecilia.  Furthermore, there is a resistance or rebel group, against Lupo.  Cecilia is part of the resistance.  The resistance has a basic training camp, in Romania.  The war against Colonel Lupo will be paid for, through, the Soldier of Fortune Adventure Program.  The program has several millionaires waiting, to do the program.  The Soldier of Fortune Adventure Program is the cover story, for an attack against Colonel Lupo.  McCenzie is asked to be part of the mission, as the official guide of the millionaires.  Reed is also part of the plan.  The scene changes, and, the location is the Soldier of Fortune Training Camp; in the Country of Romania.  McCenzie and Reed are present and awaiting, the arrival of the millionaires.  The first millionaire to arrive is, Charles Vanderbeer.  Vanderbeer is a banker, and, an American aristocrat.  The second millionaire to arrive is, Roman St. John.  St. John is in the mining and smelting business.  The third millionaire to arrive is, Samuel Haussman.  Haussman is a cell phone pioneer.  He is also in the telecommunications business, and, a hunter.  The fourth millionaire to arrive is, Grimaud Tourneur.  Grimaud is an international arms dealer from, French Africa.  Grimaud is known to start the war, in order, to sell the weapons.  The fifth millionaire to arrive is, Tommy Sin.  Sin is a video game designer/inventor.  He is also arriving with a broken leg.  McCenzie and Reed greet the millionaires.  The millionaires are taken to the barracks.  The millionaires make themselves comfortable, in the barracks.  Haussman and Grimaud talk about their guns.  Sin and Vanderbeer argue with each other.  The millionaires throw a party for themselves, on the beach.  The millionaires have their party, and, McCenzie and Reed watch from a distance.  Additionally, they are not happy.  McCenzie and Reed execute an attack and capture, on the millionaires.  The millionaires are released, and, McCenzie announces the time when the training will begin.  The millionaires report for training.  It results that, they have sent their respective assistants home.  The millionaires are ready and all business.  The millionaires undergo military training.  They do drills, shoot weapons and take part in simulated combat.  The millionaires still argue with each other.  The millionaires win the simulated combat, and, they continue training.  McCenzie arrives at the barracks.  He announces final preparations for the mission.  He also collects personal possessions.  The next day, the mercenaries finalize the preparations, for the mission.  The mission is to deliver weapons, to the rebels or resistance.  The boats leave and travel towards, the island.  Unexpectedly, Carter Mason is informed of the mission, against him.  Carter Mason opens fire on the boats.  All of the boats are destroyed except, for McCenzie’s boat.  Furthermore, the millionaires are traveling with McCenzie.  McCenzie and the millionaires arrive and land, on the island.  From this point forward; the series of events, take the viewer, to the end.  Grimaud reveals that, he sold Colonel Lupo the weapons.  However, Lupo didn’t pay, and, he is on the adventure program seeking revenge.  It results that, there is a traitor amongst the millionaires.  The plan, from Mason’s and Lupo’s side, was to hold the millionaires captive and collect ransom money.  Since the beginning, the traitor has been part of Mason’s and Lupo’s plan.  Finally; you have to watch, in order to know, how this movie ends.
