story is its own story. There are no
connections to the other stories. Even
though, from time to time the same person, or persons, appears. Individually, each story attempts to
highlight the desperate and cruel jungle, which has become life in New
York City.
Ultimately, through the darkness, there is the survival of the human
spirit. Additionally and overall, the
essence of each story is a love poem, which is dedicated to New
York City. The
directors of this movie do a very good.
The cinematography is very captivating and beautiful. The viewer does feel the immersion into New
York City, itself.
The writers do an equally, very good job. The interaction between the characters is
well written and witty. Additionally,
each story does feel like an original story.
The officially recognized stars contribute tremendously. They would be missed, if they were not
chosen. Overall, New York, I Love You (2008) earns the rating of

The movie narrative of, New York, I Love You (2008), is as follows. This movie is not a conventional story. The story does not have a linear, left to
right, sequence. But rather, the movie
is a collection of various stories.
There is no connection between the stories. Each story is its own story. Story #1 begins. A taxi drives around. The city is New York
City. There are
scenes of New York City. The taxi stops, and, a man named Gus
enters. At the same time, another man
enters the taxi. Both men tell the taxi
driver where to go. Both men talk over
each other. The taxi driver yells at the
men, to get out of his taxi cab. Story
#1 ends, and, story #2 begins. Ben and
Garry walk on the streets of New York City. Ben and Garry crash into each other. Ben steals Garry’s wallet in the
process. Ben takes the money, and then,
he throws away the wallet. Ben watches a
woman. The woman exits a photo booth
machine, and, Ben chases. Ben follows
the woman to a restaurant. The
restaurant is empty. Ben crashes into
the woman. He also takes the woman’s
mobile telephone. Ben pretends to find
the woman’s telephone. The woman is
appreciative, and, she buys Ben an alcoholic drink. Ben and the woman pass time talking. Unexpectedly, Garry enters the restaurant and
kisses the woman. He also asks Ben for a
cigarette. Garry asks Ben to join
them. Garry tells Ben that, he is a
professor. Ben tells Garry that, he is a
thief. Garry takes Ben’s wallet. Ben looks for his wallet. Garry throws Ben’s wallet on the bar. Garry tells Ben that, he kept the money. Furthermore, that he recently lost his
wallet. But, he was able to recover the
money. Garry puts money in Ben’s
pocket. Ben pays the bartender, and, he
quickly walks towards the door. Garry
throws Ben his keys. Ben throws Garry
his wedding ring. On the sidewalk; Ben
is angry, and, he kicks the mailbox. By
coincidence, Ben finds a picture, of the woman he chased. Ben hears his name being called, and, story
#2 ends. There are scenes of New
York City, and, story #3 begins. A diamond seller sits in his store/shop. The diamond seller is a man. Rifka enters, in order, to make a deal and a
buy. Rifka is a woman. Furthermore, she is in a hurry. Rifka is finalizing preparations for her
wedding. The diamond seller and Rifka
talk about Rifka’s wedding. Rifka
inspects a batch of diamonds, and, they continue to talk about things. Rifka doesn’t like the diamonds, and, she
rejects the batch. The diamond seller
and Rifka haggle over the price. They
agree on the price for the diamonds. The
diamond seller tells Rifka that his wife left, due to, a religious
commitment. Rifka shares her religious
commitment that, she recently made.
Rifka shaved her head for her wedding.
She adds that, she is wearing a wig.
Rifka shows the diamond seller her head.
The diamond seller holds Rifka’s head to his face. Both of them share a moment together. Orthodox Jews walk on the street. Rifka is at her wedding, and, she stares at
her husband. The diamond seller drives
his car, and, story #3 ends. There are
scenes of New York City, and, story
#4 begins. A French woman sits in a
taxi. The taxi driver is from Haiti. He also speaks French. The French woman and the taxi driver, briefly
talk to each other. Unexpectedly, the
man named Gus enters the taxi. He starts
to exit the taxi, but, the French woman lets him stay. The taxi takes Gus to his destination, and,
story #4 ends. Story #5 begins, and,
David sleeps in his chair. David is an
audio editor. David wakes up, because,
someone is calling him on his mobile telephone.
On the other end of the telephone, is a woman named Camille. Camille gives David instructions, on the work,
which he needs to do. Time passes, David
walks on the street. He is on the
telephone talking to Camille. David and
Camille talk about the audio editing job.
David invites Camille out for dinner.
Camille rejects the invitation.
David works on the audio editing job.
Camille calls David on the telephone.
Camille tells David that, she left books in front of, his apartment
door. David holds the books in his hand,
and, Camille puts him on hold. Time
passes, David sits at the park, with a book in hand. David also talks to Camille on the
telephone. They also talk about reading
the books. The conversation continues,
and, David asks Camille for a picture.
Camille sends David a picture; to his mobile telephone. However, Camille covers her face with a book. Time passes, David is in bed reading the
books. David leaves Camille a voice
message. The message is about reading
the books. Camille leaves David a voice
message, on David’s home telephone. The
message is a story about the author of the books. Camille offers to read the books for
David. Additionally, Camille tells David
that, she is standing at his door. David
opens the door, and, he meets Camille.
There are scenes of New York City,
and, story #5 ends. Story #6 begins,
and, a woman films people. The people
are living their lives in New York City. The woman films, with a hand held
camera. The woman films, as the woman
named Rifka, sits on a bench. Rifka’s
husband arrives, and, they leave together.
There are scenes of New York City
at night. Story #6 ends, and, story #7
begins. A call-girl is another term for
prostitute. The call-girl finishes
getting ready. The call-girl stands on
the sidewalk, about to smoke a cigarette.
A man approaches to light the cigarette, for her. The man starts to talk to the call-girl. The man attempts to convince the woman that,
they have a connection. The call-girl
says that, she is married and happy. The
man is not convinced and continues. The
man starts to talk about sex. The man
calls himself a vagina expert. The man
continues by describing his apartment.
The man returns to talking about sex.
The call-girl starts to laugh.
She confesses that, she is a prostitute.
The call-girl gives the man her business card. Furthermore, she describes her work
schedule. The man puts away the business
card, and, story #7 ends. There are
scenes of New York City at
night. The night becomes the next day,
and, story #8 begins. A teenage boy
enters a pharmacy. Furthermore, he
narrates the beginning of the story. The
owner of the pharmacy approaches, the teenage boy, as he enters. The teenage boy gets the medicine, for
free. The owner of the pharmacy heard
that, he got dumped by his girlfriend, on the day of his senior prom. The owner of the pharmacy, offers his teenage
daughter, as the boy’s prom date. The
teenage boy agrees, and, he arrives for his date. Furthermore, he arrives in a limousine. The teenage girl comes out, and, she is in a
wheelchair. They arrive at the senior
prom. They also have an awkward moment,
with the teenage boy’s ex-girlfriend.
Regrettably, at the end of the night, someone leaves in the teenage
boy’s limousine. The teenage boy is
forced to walk home with his date. They
stop at the park, and, they pass time with each other. The teenage girl is in a wheel chair. The teenage girl hangs from a tree branch,
and, she gives the teenage boy sex. They
fall asleep, and, the night becomes the next day. The teenage boy hurries, in order, to take
the teenage girl home. The owner of the
pharmacy waits on the sidewalk, for his daughter. The teenage boy arrives with the teenage
girl. Surprisingly, the teenage girl can
walk. She stands up and enters the
building. The owner of the pharmacy,
tells the teenage boy that, she is an actress.
Furthermore, that she does weird stuff all the time. The teenage boy narrates the end of story
#8. Story #9 begins, men play basketball
at a park. One of the men, is the man
named Ben. The woman, from the
restaurant, watches and greets Ben. Ben
and the woman leave together. On a
subway train, a woman thinks about a man.
On the street, the man named Gus thinks about a woman. The thoughts include a sexual encounter. The woman continues to think about the
man. The woman is still on the subway
train. Gus arrives at a bar. The bar has a lot of people, and, Gus starts
drinking. The woman exits the subway
train. Gus talks to another woman. Gus stands outside of the bar, and, he smokes
a cigarette. Gus remembers and thinks
about, the sexual encounter. A taxi
stops, in front, of Gus. Gus opens the
door and thinks about leaving, in the taxi.
Unexpectedly, the woman arrives, and, she watches Gus. The woman and Gus see each other. The woman enters the taxi. The taxi leaves, and, Gus and the woman kiss. The taxi drives through the streets of New
York City. Gus
and the woman never stop kissing. Story
#9 ends, and, story #10 begins. At a
bar, or restaurant, the woman who films people sits at a table. The woman passes time, and, the camera is
on. A man sits, at the table, which is
next to the woman’s table. The man draws
things, on a notepad. The man and the
woman notice each other. The man
finishes paying, and, the woman goes to the bathroom. On the sidewalk, the man stands in front of
the camera. The man shows the camera his
drawings. The man leaves, and, the woman
returns. There are scenes of New
York City. The
night becomes the next day. Story #10
ends, and, story #11 begins. A woman
walks towards a hotel. An old man waits
patiently. The woman enters the
hotel. The woman is an old woman. The old woman is in her hotel room, talking
to herself. A young man, with physical disabilities,
takes the old woman’s luggage to her room.
The old woman follows. The young
man prepares the room, for the old woman.
The old woman asks for flowers in the room. The young man returns with flowers. Unexpectedly, the young man’s nose starts to
bleed. The old woman helps the young
man. The old woman puts on a dress. The young man returns with complimentary
champagne, for the old woman. The
manager of the hotel is the father, of the young man. The old woman asks the young man, to join her
for champagne. The old woman and the
young man pass time drinking champagne.
The young man stands at the window.
The young man jumps off the building, and, onto the sidewalk. The old woman watches the dead young
man. Unexpectedly, the old man enters
the room, from the window. The old man

begins. A middle-aged man rides in a
taxi. The taxi driver asks the man, if

story #13 begins. A father is at the
park with his daughter. Both, lie down
and watch the buildings. The father is

nanny. Two mothers make a comment about

at the dry cleaners. The woman is the
call-girl. The call-girl and the worker,
talk to each other in Cantonese. A man
named Alex enters the dry cleaners.
Furthermore, he lets the call-girl know that, he knows Cantonese. There are scenes of New
York City, and, story #14 ends. Story #15 begins, and, the painter leaves his
apartment. The painter enters an Asian
store, in order, to buy something. The
painter leaves, and, the cashier grabs his attention. The painter sits in an Asian restaurant. The painter draws the cashier on a
napkin. At his apartment, the painter
drinks heavily and draws the cashier.
The painter falls down drunk, and, he kisses the drawing of the
cashier. The painter and cashier walk,
on the streets of New York City. Unexpectedly, they meet each other on the
sidewalk. The painter asks the cashier,
if, he can paint her. The cashier
refuses. However, the painter gives the
cashier, his home address. The cashier
works her job, at the Asian store. The
cashier travels to the painter’s apartment.
The cashier enters the painter’s apartment, and, she discovers that the
painter has died. As she leaves, the
cashier takes a drawing. The drawing has
her face on it. The cashier glues
pictures of her eyes, on the drawing she took.
There are scenes of New York City
at night, and, story #15 ends. Story #16
begins, and, the call-girl stops to help a woman. The woman is the woman who films people. The woman talks about filming people. The woman films the call-girl. Story #16 ends, and, story #17 begins. The man named Alex is at a restaurant. He steps outside, and, he starts to smoke a
cigarette. A married woman steps outside
to smoke a cigarette. Alex lights the
woman’s cigarette. The married woman,
and, Alex pass time talking. The married
woman talks to Alex, about her marriage.
The married woman asks Alex, if, he wants to have sex with her. Alex answers yes. Furthermore, he asks for the purpose. The woman returns to the restaurant, and, her
husband. Time passes, Alex and the
married woman, eat dinner at a restaurant.
Alex is also married. The married
woman tells Alex that, she loves him.
Alex tells the married woman that, he loves her. There are scenes of New
York City at night.
Story #17 ends, and, story #18 begins.
A woman enters a pharmacy. The
woman is sore from exercise. The woman
wants to buy birth control. The owner of
the pharmacy refuses. The woman leaves
the pharmacy frustrated. The owner of
the pharmacy doesn’t know what happened.
Story #18 ends, and, story #19 begins.
A man and his girlfriend, walk and argue on the sidewalk, of New
York City. The
girlfriend wants to go on a trip. The
man isn’t the type of person, who travels.
Surprisingly, the man takes his girlfriend to an American Airlines
office. The man throws down his credit
card, and, buys flight tickets to Rome. Story #19 ends, and, story #20 begins. An elderly couple walks on the streets of New
York City. The
wife corrects things that, her husband does.
The elderly couple continues walking.
They also continue to argue, with each other. The elderly couple, continues walking on the
streets of New York City. They talk about things and argue. The elderly couple arrives at their destination;
the beach. They stop arguing with each
other. The elderly couple starts the
return trip. They start to argue with
each other. There are scenes of New
York City, and, story #20 ends. Story #21 begins, and, the cashier from the
Asian store walks on the streets of New York City. She meets the woman who films people. The cashier passes time, with the woman who
